MASTERPIECE is a series and ebook all about confronting the flaws we try to hide, dim, or ignore. FMR finds the beauty in becoming transparent with who we are and what makes us the amazing beings we’re changing into every day. When you read these poems, allow yourself to feel the words & find yourself. Thank you so much for your support in FMR!
The Beholders Perception
“I’ve finally fallen in love
It’s the little things that really caught my eye
Let’s be honest, I’d occasionally lie
To hide the love of my life, which is I
So many times I cheated & betrayed myself
All because I wanted more wealth
I wanted the riches of happiness
Now I pose for fun, camera man catch this
This relationship has knocked me off my feet
I once thought with him I’d be complete
But I still faced defeat
Even though I won
Who’s to say I’m not a cover girl or model
I love my body & it’s waddle
This much melanin is a whole lot to swallow
To the sound of this confident drum, I follow
Many nights I cried & asked God why
The rolls
The hair
The excess everywhere
But I had it all wrong
I saw excess but He saw more
More success
More happiness
More joy
Less sadness
I’ve been abundantly blessed
To carry this crown comes with stress
But I’m an A student, of course I’ll pass this test
God just said show up, I’ll handle the rest”
“Thank you so much for coming to join so many other Queens in this amazing experience! Poetry has found its way into my heart for many years now & I love how openly I’m able to express myself through words, vibes, & my imagination! I hope all of these words touch you & I can’t wait to share more with you!” -LEXX
