Thief in the Night: Anxiety

“I’ve had moments in my life where I felt like I wasn’t doing enough, I wasn’t where I wanted to be, & I was doing everything wrong. The thoughts became an avalanche that crushed me slowly. For years I had a negative mindset and it still creeps back up sometimes because I did that damage to myself for so long. I had to spend as much time in the word of God as I did beating myself up for me to reverse that attitude about myself.”

THIS IS A WORD! As humans we tend to worry about the littlest aspects of in the big scope of things. As we continue to think about those things, they pile up. They get bigger. They GROW OUT OF OUR CONTROL! I’ve had moments in my life where I felt like I wasn’t doing enough, I wasn’t where I wanted to be, & I was doing everything wrong. The thoughts became an avalanche that crushed me slowly. For years I had a negative mindset and it still creeps back up sometimes because I did that damage to myself for so long. I had to spend as much time in the word of God as I did beating myself up for me to reverse that attitude about myself. No matter how big you feel like your problem is, God is your solution! Don’t confuse this with him being there when YOU want him to take care of it, but understand that in his time, everything will work out for you! There’s so many tiny blessings we miss out on because we devalue their worth and meaning compared to the obvious blessings we acknowledge. Yes, you’d probably be happier with $10,000 in the bank but why not praise God for the $1,000 you just made! Yes, a new car in your driveway will turn heads but why not praise God for the car that’s getting you everywhere you need to be right now!

Please tell me when worrying pays off. I’ll wait. And yes I understand that sometimes your intuition had you worrying for good reason but all it does is create a bigger problem! When you worry about one thing, normally you tend to start worrying about more things! You aren’t getting 5 years added to your life because you worried about your light bill being paid. You’re not getting 2 more weeks added to your life because you worried about what the people at work think about you. You’re not getting one more day added to your life! God has already mapped out your entire life. He knows how everything plays out for you. He sees the good, the bad, & the ugly of your entire life. Trusting that God is there in the midst of every moment deserves a deep breath. Most time when we worry or feel anxious, we feel alone. We feel like no one else can relate. We feel like there’s no one willing to help or understand because their NOT IN OUR SHOES! God is.

Yes, you told 3 of your best friends what was going on. Yes, your mom gave you insight on what to do. Yes, you talked to your significant other about the best way to handle it all. But did you go to God. The big difference with God is the unbiased direction. I’m not saying that talking to close friends and family isn’t beneficial but you’re automatically getting biased advice based on experiences, feelings, and their thoughts. Even the ones they don’t tell you about! God is always ready to listen. You don’t have to send screenshots to prove it. You don’t have to save voice notes or conversations. You don’t even have to start from the beginning. He already knows. God WANTS to help & he’s going to always give you the tools to excel, grow, and persevere when you feel like you can’t make it another day! Welcome God into your life, ask him to search your heart, talk to him like you do your homegirls, be honest, & ask for the understanding to receive what he’s doing in your life that you’ll know exactly how to handle it.
