“You Glow Girl Candle Co. was created in 2020 by Owner/Maker, Stacie Refeld, in the midst of the global pandemic. Candle making was a way to keep her busy and occupied during quarantine. The process was also therapeutic as it helped take her mind off of the craziness that was going on in the world. With an obsession for home fragrances and aromatherapy, she always wanted to learn the art of candle making. After months and months of research and testing, You Glow Girl Candle Co. was born!”

Do you smell that love aroma? It’s the smell of Success, Ambition, & Passion! Here’s a deeper look into the magic of You Glow Girl Candle Co. with the boss herself, Stacie Refeld!

1. In your industry, what would you say is an underrated lesson people should learn?

Learn who your target audience is before selling your candles. Once you figure this out, gear your branding and marketing towards that audience. A lot of small businesses struggle with sales because they are marketing to the wrong audience. Once you are able to reach your target audience, you will start to see an increase in sales.

2. When you first started, what did you take for granted that now is valuable?

Being afraid to post about my business on my personal social media pages. I thought it would turn people away or that they would get tired of seeing me post about my business all the time. Now, I don’t really care about what others think and I post my business on all of my pages. I learned that if I don’t promote my business multiple times a day on more than one platform, then no one will know about it.

3. If a potential customer were visiting your site, what product would you want to catch their eye?

Our Signature Collection called the Glow Girl Collection because it is a representation of our company’s name. It’s the collection we launched with. There are four candles in the Glow Girl Collection. Each candle in this collection was given a unique name along with its own individual scent. The names are ‘You’ve Got it Glowing On’(Pineapple Sage), ‘Hustle & Glow’(Mimosa & Mandarin), ‘Glow Getter’(White Tea & Ginger), and ‘Let Your Soul Glow’(Palo Santo). There is also an inspiring affirmation or quote on each candle.

4. How have you managed to keep up with social media trends and applying your brand accurately?

By learning how to create Instagram reels and TikTok videos to draw attention to my brand. YouTube and Google are great resources for learning how to create social media content on Instagram and TikTok. I also try and use whatever song is currently trending on these apps in order to get more views.

5. Who has been your biggest motivation to make it to this point?

Other black candle makers who started from the bottom just like me and are now running successful six figure candle companies. Their success motivates me by letting me know that it is possible for You Glow Girl Candle Co. to one day become a six figure business as well.
